I need to cross a 2 foot cement walkway. Could I run this inside of the cement for the 2 feet. I push my cherry picker through there and I am afraid I will break the plastic conduit where it comes up out of the ground if I use the plastic conduit.
there is some argument as to what the burial depth needs to be. the greatest consensus seems to be that the pipe needs to be 12 inches below grade. if the walkway is narrow i usually tunnel under it and feed the pipe thru. ridgid is a good choice for this because it's hard to kill.
I was going to run 1" ridgid hung on unistruit all the way to the shop from there.

one would think so but you know how it is with the code. cut and dry to one is grounds for argument to another.
no, it's very clear, there is no grounds for argument, if using RMC or IMC, use Column 2 of table 300.5. find the applicable installation on the left, and it only gives one measurement. It's not vauge like 'Likely to become energized.'
if installing in the concrete it needs to have an envelope of atleast 2" of concrete. This means you have to have 2" of concrete around the entire outside of the RMC.
and as said, you will need to transition down to 6" after coming out of the slab.

if you use rigid metal conduit the burial depth is 6" if it has 2" of concrete on top. You will have to figure out how to transition to proper depth outside the walkway, probably 45 in GRC to a 45 pvc.
For rigid, unless it's crossing a driveway or some type of parking lot, the burial depth is 6" whether it has 2" of concrete on top of it or not. Row 1 & 2 list the depth.
I have no idea how RockwithJason is coming up with 12" as that's not even a burial depth listed under the column for rigid conduit.
