100 pound flooring roller

Need to do a glue down vinyl floor coming up and started looking for a 100 pound roller. The ones I found online are over 300 bucks. I'm guessing because of the metal for the rollers but seems a little steep for me. Looked on craigslist but didn't see much. Looked at some online auction sites and didn't see much. I would just rent and that might be what I end up doing but I hate renting things and there have been a few times I needed one of these in the past so thought I would buy one.

Anyone know where I might find a used one for a decent price?

they are tough to come by used. anytime I see them they are priced high. I guess they don't depreciate much
I had a buddy build mine years ago , but the 5" round steel was free so it was worth while

I've only seen a used one one time and it was expensive. when I did the last two, I just rented from home depot...and I hate renting something when I can buy it, but just can't justify something sitting around I would maybe use once every 10 years...like my big huge wet tile saw that has been in the shed since '97...

You can probably build something, get some hollow pipe, weld in some flush caps and fill with lead shot. Drill through the caps and press in some bearings.

Flooring is one thing that I seem to always be asked to do. I do a lot of remodeling and once people find out I know how to do something I pretty much have unlimited work. Think I could start my own flooring business if I wanted to. My 800 dollar tile saw and 300 dollar snap cutter are more then paid for. Also have a 600 dollar carpet stretcher and all the other carpet tools that are more then paid for. Only use them a couple times a year so they sit in the garage most of the time but they are paid for and I have them to use whenever I need them. I'd just buy the roller new and probably will end up going that route but was looking to save a few bucks because I am also planning on getting a nice Bullet tools shear cutter. I will use the shear more since you can use it for vinyl plank, laminate, carpet, etc. The roller I won't use as much but still think it will get used enough to justify buying one.

Not sure this is something I would want to DIY without a lathe to make them perfectly round and smooth after welding them up. Any rough spots or if it's not perfectly round it could leave marks on the flooring.

I see them occasionally in the pawn shops I frequent, normally around a $100. I got mine a few years ago for around $50. They thought it was a lawn roller.

I assume the vinyl flooring you are talking about is sheet goods. A lighter roller will work fine, all you need to do is push the air bubbles out, and if you fold the vinyl back into the glue correctly there won't be any. And make the glue transfer to the backing.
