Guys I thought I would share little minor success. It’s not much that person can see but it’s something. This trip I was going run black pipe for stove, dryer, tankless and for my griddle. But Supply House for some reason set me a 1/2x12” ****** instead of 3/4” But I did drill holes for pipe in wall. So I took off my pluming hat and put on my electrical hat. Those exterior plug boxes that y’all suggested were fantastic, very HD. I installed two on back porch and two on front porch. Not 100% finish with that due to I was couple duplex’s short. So I moved on to spray foam. I had sprayed some seams in wall with Kraken First Coat. It did work pretty good but the density wasn’t same as close cell. But it work, and one can went pretty good ways, sorry no pics. Then I spent few hrs cleaning place up so maybe I could find something. Last thing I did was I put up some 1x4 strapping screwed to trusses for my 1x6 T&G ceiling. Forgot plus putting to bags of batts in wall. That project is still on going. Pics are random, comments welcome good or not so good. Thanks for letting me talk👍IMG_9656.jpegIMG_9653.jpegIMG_9657.jpegIMG_9649.jpegIMG_9632.jpeg

I just installed three of those. Pain in the *** but they look nice1000007653.jpg
That they were, I think I spent whole day on 4 of these. But you’re right, they look good and little room for cord after lid is closed.

Look at Mikes photo, down at bottom you see black tabs or plugs that can pull out. The cord can fit in that knotch. It’s new to me so guessing maybe 16/3 or 14/3 extension cord.

Would you mind sharing the brand or some more info about those boxes? They look way better than what I've got now and would love to replace mine and use some of these for an upcoming project.

They also have horizontal and double gang, plus white covers and versions for new work.

Leave plenty of wire to get the receptacle out past the cover... Lots of wire

Those are slick.

I need to get deeper covers, or just different boxes for the 2 on my shop. I thought the new boxes I got would be good to go, and of course, they weren't. 😂

These give you a lot of depth for cords without protruding half a mile. I believe they will fit in a 2x4 wall, but it will be close. I can measure one if you need to know

Mine are 2x4.

How much slack do you have on the electric? I've probably got 6-8" of cable to work with currently, and the walls are already covered up.

I have those on my house. After a few years in the sun, the cover swivel tabs will get brittle and break when you try to open it. I just had to order some replacement covers off Amazon.

I have four of those to install on my new garage. My question about them is if I should put flashing under the siding and over the top of the box? I would need to bend something up, but that is easy enough.

I have the same flat Smartside panel siding as the OP.

I cut the hole, painted the cut edges, placed a thick bead of osi quad window sealant on the box and installed it.

Definitely install on a flat section and maybe place a bead of sealant on the top edge

I have the so called clear ones but they are definitely more smoke or opaque. My older ones from 7 years ago installed by the electrician when the house was built were a little darker than the two I bought about 1.5 - 2 years ago that I installed for my patios.

Yes, they are tinted. Are yours in a lot of direct sunlight?

When I saw how deep they are I was worried whether I could use them. There is a link to a "brochure" on the product page which gives dimensions. Different models may have different sizes but the one I would need (stucco wall DVBR1C) is 3.847" deep (exterior wall surface to the back of the box). So with any sort of typical siding/stucco these should work in a 2x4 wall, but just barely and you'll definitely have to use the top/bottom knock outs as the ones on the back of the box won't be accessible.

Just throwing this out there. I love the Arlington boxes but if you don't have a cord in them permanently make sure to cover those holes back up, wasps WILL find the hole and build a nest...

My covers are just white and not the smoked cover, so I didn't see the nest until I opened the lid to plug something in and got a surprise...

That's why I went with smoked covers
