12 x 30 Lean to addition

Thought I'd post some pics of my lean to addition for boat storage.

Did all the work by myself, it's been a work in progress for the past couple months. Just been working on when I have the time. I'm busy with harvest now, but I at least got the roof on now so I can work on the sidewall tin whenever I get time later this fall.

do you need to take out a permit to make one of those?

Depends on where you are, we don't have building codes around here. The only thing I've had to have inspected is my septic system.

I called my county to ask them the same question about lean to's earlier this year. Their response was that if it's not permanent you don't need a permit. When I questioned what permanent was, he responded with poured footers, slab, and the like.

Got tin on the south side done today. Now for the ends and all the trim work.

Got busy this fall and forgot to post the finished pics of the lean-to. Here they are. I still have a little gutter work to finish, but 99% done.

Nice job! You did a good job matching the new lean-to the color and style of the existing building. It doesn't look as if it was just patched on.

How did you do all of the metal trim? Do you have a metal brake for this work?

I ordered all the tin and trim from the company that put the building up. I was surprised how well it matched. I figured there would be some fading. You can specify the trim you want. Give them the specs and they will use their metal brake and it comes ready to go.

nice been thinking of doing a lean to on my garage. have a utility building with a lean to both sides. a lean to is a great way to add space.
