Hey all,

My roommate and I have been big fans of this site for a while and we finally have a garage we're both proud to show off a little. :) It's definitely a work in progress but it's extremely functional.

We both have 1 car garages at home that housed our stuff while we were in high school, and we both enrolled at Cal Poly last year and spent a year wrenching out of the trunks of the cars in parking lots. This year, though, we've moved into a house off-campus together along with another enthusiast and we're doing the garage the way we both wish ours at home were. :)

It's a 20x30 attached with a few setbacks. There's a 9x10 room at the back corner that houses a landscaping closet, a large tool corral/closet, and a bathroom (best idea ever, thank you to whoever put that in  ). There's a fireplace on the left that sticks out 2ft, and a water heater and a refrigerator next to that, so we added a workbench on that side to take advantage of the small alcove of useless space over there. We're leaving the opposite wall devoid of shelves or benches to allow the most room possible to work on the cars.

We are both big track junkies; the Vette is my roommate's track toy and the Miata is my track toy and daily driver. The third car is my roommates' project car, a Factory Five GTM owned by his stepdad. He's doing all the wrenching, his stepdad is funding it, and when it's finished my roommate will get the keys every so often.

Anyway, enough babbling. On with the photos. :bounce:

The garage has a high-lift door installed, designed to clear a 4-post lift (look for that in an update soon) and it's wired for single phase 220v. The area above the bathroom is a storage loft, filled mostly with excess turbo parts and a few sets of race slicks.

Anyway, that's about it. We have a few plans for the garage, maybe a couple more pictures on the walls and a lift, but most of the funds go into the cars so nothing crazy, just a very usable workspace.

That is a cool space - love the photo taken from the rafters - very creative. What is that car up front?

Look.. I'm gonna give you the middle finger award. Your "college" garage is bigger than my "adult" garage. Hahaha...

Seriously though.. nice setup. You guys are at Cal Poly you said? Mechanical engineers? I spy a flying miata intercooler. Also whats the story on the white Miata? I'm guessing the black hardtop car is your DD and the white car is a project?

That rattle can painted Z06 is actually the Factory Five GTM he was talking about without paint. This garage reminds me of how my parents garage used to look when i was in high school, not the layout but the work going on. Nice place guys.

The black Miata is Savington's (my room mate) turbocharged DD/track toy. The red Corvette is my dedicated track car.
The GTM is a project that my step dad funded and I did all of the work to build/research, the deal is that it's his car once complete, but I get to drive it when I want to (when I'm home).
The white miata is a source of money to fund the addicting habit of track days. It was a highly modified car, now it isn't so much. We bought it to return to stock and sell all the parts and sell the car to turn a profit.

And we clean the garage pretty much weekly, so anything that is laying around is from something that has been done in the last few days.

Yep, the left "lane" is 30ft deep, which is perfect to store a 2nd car. The Vette and a Miata fit with about 8" to spare; two Miatas means there's enough room to work on one end of each car comfortably.

My winter break projects started today. It's tough to get time to tear up the daily driver so when I do, I make sure I get my time's worth. ;) It's getting polyurethane bushings, Speedbleeders, and a small reliability upgrade on the turbo and manifold. I also re-assembled the front coilovers to give me a different range of height, something I've been meaning to do for a while. Once all that is done, I'll be topping it off with a big APR wing for track days. :)

An exercise in efficient use of space. It won't stay this way since only 2 of the cars (the Miatas) can be accessed and it takes a 2nd set of eyes to move either one, but it proves that if need be, we can do it. :D

I'll bet you cram for exams too! At least you have a roof to work under.
