220 outlet (3 and 4 prong help needed)

I have a 50 amp, 220 line with a 4 prong outlet in it that look like this.

My problem is the heater I want to plug into it has the large 3 prongs (prongs at a slant) NOT the standard house 3 prong outlet. The heater is a Dayton g73.

To make this work. Should I convert the wall outlet to a 3 prong or change out the plug in on the heater to a 4 prong? Also, how would I go about wiring it up?

Also, I read in another post, something about a motorhome plug in adapter? Could I use one of these? http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-power-cords/10269.htm

The heater only uses a 3 wire setup. But as I recall that heater uses 30A breaker.

That is a 30 amp Nema 10-30 recepticle. It only has 3 pins. Are you sure it's the right link?

Do not use an RV adapter, They are wired such that a 240V 50 amp 4 prong is converted to only a 120v 30 amp w/3 prongs.

RV "dog bones" are to be used to connect a "30 amp" RV to a "50 amp" post.
it disables one of the hot "legs"

Sorry guys. Tonight I will take a picture of my plug on the heater. I will also take a picture of the outlet in the wall. That way I will be sure to show you what I am working with.

Well I had a chance to talk to my electrician and he told me what he has been using. He used a 3 wire dyer chord and plug for my Dayton g73 heaters. He had to install the outlets in the ceiling. I didn't want them hard wired.

For my new heater (also a Dayton) he is going to use a 4 wire (30 amp) dryer chord (not on line, but look the same except it's 4 prongs and 4 wires) since where I am plugging that into is already a 220, 4 prong outlet. That way we don't need to change out the outlet.
They are all set up on their own breakers.

He just had me run to Home Depot and buy the chord. They were back by the dryers.
