220V welder outlet - Height above floor?

Wiring up a 50A 220V outlet for my welder, and am thinking the lower the better - less probably of tripping over it and it getting in the way.

I see that 18" is either the preferred, or required min as per the NEC. Not sure if there is anything I missed.

I was hoping to see if anyone here had any personal preferences and/or suggestions. I was figuring 18" should be good.

I like'em high off the floor so they won't get blocked by junk. My outlets in my garage and shop are 50" off the floor.

all of my outlets are also mounted high 50-60 inches just to keep them clear and idiot proof.

I just wired mine, 41" from floor to center of outlet. I like all outlets up high if possible. I posted this pic below in my thread- shows how I used a weatherproof box to keep crud out when not in use.

Agree with this 100%. Don't hide your outlets behind stacked up ****.

Thanks guys. After thinking about it, and going down there to visualize more, I've decided to mount it high. Funny think is the ramp to my m/c lift is leaning up against the pole, would be blocking my outlet if it were low.

Hopefully finish it up today. Thanks again.
