Is it OK to use a 3 Pole Switch for 2 pole?

If someone GAVE me a 60A 3 Pole Cutoff switch (Nice GE unit) which I assume came from a 3 Phase setup...could I just wire 2 poles and use it in my single phase 240v Application?

I don't see why not. We purchase bulk disconnects for a lot of jobs and they are all 3 phase; maybe half end up being used in 120/240 applications.

Yes, its done all the time in commercial and industrial settings. Just make sure that the current rating of the switch is not less than your device and make sure it is rated for the exposure you are using it in.
