I have a 30Ah Yuasa battery (Y1X30L) in a side by side. The battery says to charge at 3A.

I’m have wired a shore power plug to the outside body of the SXS and hooked it up to an onboard Noco GEN5X1 smart charger.

I am mainly planning on using the charger in the winter during periods of snow plowing where the machine will be used in short low RPM increments, in order to maintain the battery which will be getting a workout from the plow winch.

Yuasa’s tech support said they recommend 3A charging but the 5A charger “should be on but to keep an eye on it.”

Looking for opinions on using this 5A charger on a 30Ah battery.

Shouldn't be an issue. Honestly constant charging is much more likely to cause longevity problems.

The only concern would be if the battery was extremely discharged in which case it could be possible to cook the battery if 5A is dumped into it. All depends on how the battery is physically constructed.

I'd probably just buy a $20 1A NOCO and not worry about it.
