Congrats!! I have built 2 buildings myself. My second building was 40 x 40 at the start.( 40 x 52 now ) It took me 7 months to build. So I understand how long it can take. My 3rd building I had put up by Penn Dutch. I designed it and ordered materials, they just built it. It was out of state and it would have taken me years to get it done. They put it up in 2 days and 6 hours . I kid you not !!!!!! It is 56 x 64 and watching them work was amazing.

It took me a couple trips to finish the large carriage doors for the main section. I will use rollups for the ends.

Pete... I like the way you did the building with the lean to on each side. I considered that kind of approach to get some of the building with a high ceiling for the lift and the rest of it lower. Then decided on the vaulted trusses on the one end.

The doors look nice. You have any pics of the inside? Are you finishing it off for a workshop to work on Mustangs?

Drywall done
Walls and Ceiling primed with Kilz
Ceiling painted with ceiling white

Now it is too cold and will have to wait to paint the walls in the Spring. I will go ahead and finish the wiring and move my tools in. It won't be too hard to move stuff away from the walls to paint when I am ready. Also need to cut the jambs for the windows and doors and get the trim ready. Here are some pics:

Where was this located? Are these the Penn Dutch builders you used, or were you using that term generically? http://www.penndutchstructures.com/

Thanks JC23. I was able to get a great deal off of Craigslist on all my windows. The first 16' of the building from that end has vaulted trusses. That first bay will have a vehicle lift in it. That window is right beside the lift.

Looin good pj. Do you happen to know what the roof pitch and the vaulted ceiling pitch is? I like the character that adds to the interior.

Older post but I think he said 6/12 outside so I imagine a 3/12 or 4/12 inside pitch...

This is how I want mine except for doors on the gable end. Wondering what the metal color was myself, Bronze maybe?

the roof pitch is 6/12 on the outside and 3/12 on the inside. Gives me a little over 12' at the peak on the inside. Will be enough for a lift someday. Will just have to be careful if it is a boxy vehicle like a van or a truck with a cap that it doesn't hit the ceiling.

The roof metal color is a dark brown. Not sure if it has a more specific color, but it was the closest color to matching my shingle roof on the house.

sorry it took so long to get a summary of the costs...

Amish labor and initial package with roof complete
$10,088.35
Foundation and floor (hired floor put in)
$6,088.87
Rest of structure (including windows, doors, siding)
$8,049.85
Electrical (all work done myself)
$1,627.73
Paint (not done with color on walls)
$112.71

About $26,000 total so far but there is a lot of seat equity on top of that.

Haven't been able to really finish it as I "moved in" and have been using it. I need to get some projects finished and a few things sold so I can focus back on the final paint inside and trimming out the windows properly. So far I wouldn't change anything as it is meeting my needs very well. Will post some more once I get back to working on the building itself.

So did you ever get the inside finished? I would enjoy seeing some finished interior pictures. I've been following your build since day one.

Looks like you did good on the price. Once I get my cash built up I'm doing the same style but 36x48x12. Shooting for a start date next spring.

One more question. Did you use storage trusses on the end opposite the lift bay? If so how much room did you end up with? I don't recall anything in the thread about it....

Thanks guys for the compliments. Other than hanging up a couple more things, I haven't been able to finish the inside properly. I have not installed a lift yet either. Right now I have 3 project vehicles and a small enclosed trailer setting in the tall bay sideways. I need to make time to get some projects completed so I can get them out of my way. Then I can paint the walls and trim out the windows. It is not real photogenic right now. That is what happens when you "move in" before it is done. I didn't want to do that but it got too cold before I got the walls painted.
