Local shop is selling one brand new that they ended up with duplicates of. Set has no ratchet, but case does not have a place for one either. They said $150 but I'm guessing I can offer them $120 for it. I cannot find it on the cornwell website though. I'm gonna go check it out Tom. Anyone know what the value range is? Its 3/8 metric and sae

$150 is probably fair and around the going rate if you were to re-sell it. Haggle them down more if you can. One word of warning, Cornwell chrome sockets use the old school single detent hole that is really only found on impacts anymore so they have a tendancy to fall off easily if you dont align the hole with the retention ball. So basically you have to pay a little attention every time you snap a socket on. Really nice sockets otherwise.

Make sure they are US made and not the new "blue power" import line. I have nothing against the lower priced line, but they are substantially cheaper on the secondary market.

Yes, make sure they are the USA made Cornwell tools. I've seen some Matco Silver Eagle sets in pawn shops lately with Matco USA prices on them.

I've never seen one without a ratchet. I've got this set... is the one you're looking at similar?

just spoke to the guy again, the sockets are usa made. he said the set is from a few years ago but other than being brand new thats all he knows. basically a employee stole a bunch of money from the shop and skipped out. these were left at the shop along with some other stuff and they are selling it to make back cash

Not totally sure but that looks like the imported set to me. Ask him what the part numberis and if the sockets say USA on them.

Those are not imported, they look like the semi deep or mid socket set they offered. It had sae and metric sizes in 3/8 and 1/4 sizes. Retail was over 400 if i remember correctly.

If i could get them for that price i would be all over it. One thing to consider though is they are no longer on the website so warranty could be an issue down the line.

If he threw in 40 Snap-On sockets, you got that Cornwell set for free. They're good sockets, but like others said, having the detent on only 1 side gets annoying.

good deal. and my 1st set of tool truck sockets were cornwell 3/8 in industrial/impact finish. never had a problem with them falling off an extension. still use them as i dont have the heart to swap out my 3/8 for snap on's due to sentimental reason.

cornwell offered a kit of all semi deep sockets. the pic looks like it may be both SAE and METRIC in both the 1/4" and 3/8" drives

You are correct Sir. Now I'm ready for my matco 88tooth locking 3/8 flex head to get here :bounce:

The cornwell ratchet I found in the box is pretty sweet too. Hit it with a little lucas assembly lube after a clean out and she is good to go.
