I have a 5k BTU electric heater wired up temporarily in my shed with 10/2 romex. I am insulating the ceiling and before I close in the last bit or the walls I want to figure how to wire this thing. My thought it to put a box on the wall or ceiling and change from romex to MC for the heater. What would you guys do?

Where is the panel or disconect?
Left of the fridge and heater in the picture. Follow to orange 10/2 wire.
I'm thinking to insulate and OSB the top 4' of the walls, if not the full height of walls.

That is what I did; 10 Gauge to a metal junction box and a 10 Gauge appliance whip to the heater. I control the heater with a 40 amp relay with a 24 volt coil that is energized through a mechanical twist timer. The 30 minuet timer ensures that the heater will not be left operating continuously by someone forgetting to turn it off.

NEC allows an exception for what you're doing in single family dwellings, but if it has a fan I'd put a disconnect (or plug and receptacle) in anyway for ease of servicing purposes.

I have a 30 Amp fused disconnect just a few feet from, and within sight, of the heater.
This is what I did, finishing the ceiling. We had a cold snap so I had to wire it up temporarily to paint the ceiling, but I put a box in the ceiling. I have some 10/2 MC I'll run from the box to the heater.
I suppose I could have run MC from the panel and just drilled a hole in the wall or ceiling, but this should look cleaner.
