Hello everyone Im in the process of starting a tuning business. Im looking for interior design inspiration for a proposed 6000sqft premises thats 5000sqft floor space and 1000sqft office, store etc. Ill need to divide the space at each roller shutter door evenly for 3 seperate work areas. approximately 60'x28'

Area 1:RH roller door near office. Professional Garage comprising of two lifts and two work stations of identical layout or mirrored layout with one common area where the two operators will be using shared tools like diagnostic equipment, compression testers they will have their own wrenches sockets grips etc etc. I have SNAP ON in mind for these stations they have to blow the mind :)

Area 2 farthest roller shutter from office. Chassis preparation this will house two more work stations. storage for grinders and other equipment etc. Rotisserie chassis preparation and weld in cage work will be carried out here.

Area 3 middle roller shutter Chassis Dynamometer; Ill need to build two sound proof test cells here one for the AWD dyno (Hub type) and another for an engine dyno.

Area 2&3 might get swapped around not sure yet as the mazzanine area over office could be but to some use for people who are waiting or watching their vehicle on the dyno???

Here are some images though not great of the proposed rental premises.

Please feel free to post images of tech work stations, weld stations and dyno cells the more i have to work from the better and i can maybe get someone to do an actual computerised layout for me where its possible to do a virtual reality walk around. A presentation i can show to investors etc.

Thanks for reading Dan.

Have your toured any other tuning shops?

I've toured hundreds of shops.....deffinately have "my" likes/dislikes.Have also built quite a few pro-shops.Safety WRT,"regs" seems to be an overwhelming criteria when building here in the US.So much so,that it has and does influence creative thoughts and ideas twds the design side of buildings. You can make a point, for or against? The really successful shop designs have,or are,the ones who can find that perfect balance between,....satisfying the Guv/regs...and...intelligent/creative design. Its not cheap.....but it IS noticed.

Good luck with your shop! And if I had to point you in the right direction....research and learn about air quality.

Looks like a great space.

Just some advice, make sure you keep the shop clean as a whistle. Neat and tidy shops exude quality and I really appreciate that as a customer.

If he comes back or not, the best advice in a case like this is.......
Hire a pro industrial assembly line engineer, or.......
visit a many shops as will let you in and see what they like and don't like about their set ups.
The latter mat require some travel to get out off any precived competion areas.
