Oh I want to see the video of somebody just drilling a slanted hole through an existing hole. A milling machine would make that a lot more likely to happen. Still don't think this is going to work as a depth stop though.
What advantage is there if you still have to spin a nut to lock it in place?
As long as the threads don't align that might work. That's a lot of height lost though. Also, that still sounds pretty awkward to do.
