75K Mr. Heater 2" to 4" adapter

Hello everyone, this is my 1st post. I've looked through the forum but couldn't find an answer to my question regarding the 2" to 4" adapter supplied with my 75K Big Maxx heater. I am going to attach single wall 26 Gauge vent to the adapter with 3 sheet-metal screws. How do you secure the adapter to the heater outlet itself? There doesn't seem to be any place to secure the adapter to the heater. Is it supposed to be secured to the heater? Or is it just supposed to fit loosely over the blower outlet to allow for thermal expansion? I am planning a horizontal vent. I will attach B-vent to the single-wall. The b-vent will go through the thimble. Thanks for your help.

I used a stainless worm gear band clamp to hold mine. I used double wall for everything after the elbow at heater. I learned quickly that the single wall is not correct for going through any unheated spaces, such as attics and through the roof. I had the ole sweating thing goin on found throught this site that I needed to use the double wall, live and learn.

Chetter, Thanks for the reply. So I'm guessing that you slid the adapter over the 2" blower outlet and then tightened the clamp onto the 2" blower outlet to retain the adapter? I hadn't thought of that. I was planning a single wall elbow and maybe a foot of single wall between that and the double wall that will penetrate the wall through the thimble. All of it will be in the garage space below the ceiling. That is except for the exterior portion of course which will be double wall anyways. Do you think that much single wall will cause a problem? That's right, I slid the elbow on with the clamp and when I had it in position I tightened up the clamp and worked my way up from there. As for the single wall, yea you will fine as long as it doesn't go into the attic. I used all double wall after the elbow since when it was all said and done, I had no cutting to any pipe, I used the 3ft pieces all the way through the roof and have had no problems with sweating or moisture. Last nite my regulator gave up on me so I ordered a new one, my garage got down to 40* overnite with an outside temp of 18*. My wife commented she hasn't felt the garage that cool several years since I put that heater in.

My Dayton 150K heater came with a similar (but larger, of course) adapter. It also came with three screws, and instructions to screw the adapter to the heater's output flange. I did drill pilot holes however. (The adapter was pre-drilled, but the heater's output flange was not...)

I did the same thing with my Mr. Heater 75k. A few screws will work just fine.
