A/c with radiant heat

I am building a new house in Michigan and will be using radiant tubes in the floors for heating and would like to put in a/c ,but I don't want to put in duct work in, is there a better way?

The problem is that in all mechanical refrigeration systems the refrigerant is a "truck" hauling the heat away from the space that you want cooled, without that air moving across an evaporator you will not get cooling. The high velocity systems that are in use today you small ductwork for AC only. I know of now way to eliminate the ductwork other than hotel type heat pumps installed in the outer walls of the space. Bottom line is the heat from the house has to be moved to somewhere it is not objectionable, this is the condenser, always outside.

Mini-split heat pump is an ideal compliment to your radiant system. It will provide shoulder season heating as well as cooling and dehu. All very efficiently. I'd suggest you spend some time on www.fujitsugeneral.com and mtsubishi.com and familiarize yourself with with the systems.

The mini splits are all the rage now & might be a nice early & late season heating option to your radiant. That is those cool eves. or mornings when you really do not need to fire up the slow reacting radiant, the mini split(s) might do the trick along with your a/c needs in the summer. My cousin has the high velocity a/c and it's pretty slick as well. It does not have the traditional bulky ductwork.
Keep in mind that the mini splits are heat pumps and may not provide the fast heat "bump" that I suggest above. I am not a HVAC guy but the idea sounds good to me as a have radiant with no (central) a/c either!

We install Unico high velocity and Mitsubishi mini-splits. The proper size is the place to start. For a few rooms, and low-loads the mini-is it. Bigger jobs require duct work as suggested.
