today i had to replace the female end of one of my drop cords in the shop, i walked over to the wall, unplugged it and started to take off the old one, after it shocked the piss out of me :shocking: i went back over to the wall and unplugged it again. The handy tip is, if you have 2 yellow cords plugged in the same outlet, make sure you unplug the one you are going to be workin on :lol_hitti :wtf: :lol_hitti

Good for you for being honest enough with yourself to confess. You will never unplug the wrong cord again........almost did the same thing, except I have developed a habit of trying the tool before working on it. It still ran, so I had a heads up moment.

Useful.

Some of the dumb stuff we do always amazes me. To make it worse, there is normally a little voice in our head trying to warn us we are about to do something stupid and I usually ignore it.

I did it today cutting a 2x12. I knew it was going to fall on my foot and I cut it any way.

I remember when we were kids my Dad telling one of my brothers (about 14 at the time) to change the end on a extension cord. He forgot to state the obvious though. I think my brother landed half way across the garage. :shocking:

Did it last month! Shock wasn't involved, but I shut down a classroom full of students.

Done that too... So now I mark the cords that are identical with some colored tape (unique to each cord, of course) so I know which end goes with which end. Saves you when you find you are holding two stripped, live wires, have no where to put them, and can't move to unplug the cord! (Don't ask how I learned that one!)
