A suggestion:

If the seller (transfer of property for money) would state(express in words),at the very top left corner the following two words PAYPAL ONLY,it would make life so much easier for everyone involved.

PAYPAL ONLY
HI my name is Big John I am selling a 1000 piece snap on set of tools for only $29.99,thats right you heard me correctly, but wait if you act now I will throw in my wife for free. If you are the ninth caller and you send an additional $19.99 dollars I will throw in our family pet spot and give you free shipping, thats right free shipping...

If I read those two words it eliminates me (which I find this to be very sad, because I could have gotten the family dog and an extra wife to help with the cleaning and cooking;let alone all those great tools).

I say all of this in fun because this week I got burned, toasted, cooked, and spit out like a meat grinder.

Some background information is in order:

I went in through the back door so to speak and went back a few pages to find a set of tools that I wanted, but no other person wanted. I started a conversation with sending pm's; things were working out or so I thought. I did tell that young man I would send cash although not my favorite way to go,somehow this young man had it in his head PAYPAL (tunnel vision),he never heard a word I said, because he sold them to someone else for the price we both thought was very fair.

Then last night it happened again kind of reminds me of the tv commercial
with people screaming at the top of their lungs "It's my cash and I want it now",I think it has something to do with winning legal settlements...
The person was only giving me 24 hours for me to send cash; I would need a few days for the postman/woman to get it delivered. Then this young man came back and said your cash could get lost, it is a big hassle, a lot of paperwork, someone could steal it; etc. Funny because I could say the same thing back to the seller ie. someone could steal the package,it could get lost, a lot of paperwork (you get the idea).

I realize that I am behind the times,I lost out big time, but going back to my suggestion,if someone only posts those two words and nothing else,it would save a lot of heartache. Keep in mind if they want other means of payment then the sky is the limit and I can get a family dog named spot,an extra wife and some great tools.

Thanks woody.

I'm more than happy to accept cash in the mail. Yes, you've got some risk as the seller, but if you are sending it to someone that sells regularly, they've got more to risk by ruining their reputation.

What I don't like to take are checks. Just such a hassle to wait them out to see if they clear for upward of a month.

woody,

Your not the only one who uses a USPS money order. In fact all three of the members that have replied so far has seen at least one of mine headed their way. It sometimes takes a while to get there as rural Georgia does not have the fastest mail service but they have all trusted me to get it there.

I don't bank online, I don't ebay and I don't do paypal. I prefer to buy things my way and if the seller does not want to do business, it's his problem. There are several sellers on here that I will never contact because they have stated multiple times they only take paypal. I would have thought cash money with no fee would be good but......

Woody: any time you are going to miss a deal for lack of Paypal, just tell me. I can pay the seller with Paypal, you can then send me your money, and the seller can send you the tools :)

Make sure you open the mail and nobody else. They'll wonder what you're "into" when you receive mail from woody :scared:

I'll take Paypal, cash, checks, wire transfers, anything except maybe a post dated third party check drawn on a bank in Nigeria. I use Paypal all the time, but completely understand why some don't like it.

The Op is referring to me in this post. I had forgotten to list I only take PayPal , but my ad stated 24 hours after I give you my PayPal address. My ad had been up for less than five minutes and I had three people all wanting the same item. I tried to accommodate him as I had not listed I only take PayPal. I told him I would only do a USPS money. He ignored that offer and offered to pay cash. I told him I could never expect a customer to pay cash. He then said he would sleep better if he didn’t pay cash. I asked what bank he uses so if I had a local branch I could cash his personal check without a long wait. His PMs stopped. I decided I tried hard enough to accommodate him and sold it to one of the other two interested people.

I felt bad about selling the item to someone else but he was making the sale very complicated. As I told him if his cash payment had gotten stolen in the mail it would have made a bad situation. I still don’t know what payment option he wanted to go with. I never got that out of him.
If he had taken my offer of using a USPS money order which I feel is pretty standard this post wouldn’t exist.

Woody loses because there is a lot of unscrupulous people in the world.

I don't blame treasurseeker too much. It's hard to tell the good from the bad sometimes.

I will vouch for Woody 24/7/365 here. If he says he is going to take an item, you can bet your sweet bippy he will follow through and pay quickly. I'd send him an item before the check even arrived, no problem. He's just one of those guys.

If you read Woody's post and mine they don't seem like the same event and that is the cloudy nature of trying to communicate through emails (PM’s). On sending cash, what happens if it gets lost (stolen) in mail? I am going to be torn between sending the item anyway and deciding if the cash was ever sent. The sender is going to be torn between did the seller receive the money or did it get really lost in the mail. Not a situation I would want to be involved in. I don’t take chances.

My sales are a little different than most as most of them are time based. My prices are for a quick PayPal payment. If I was in no hurry the prices would be higher and I would take other payments.
