A Weller 6966C clone

Has anyone ever found a more affordable clone to the Weller 6966C? It is basically a smaller heat gun with a smaller hot end that is ideal for shrink tubing on wires as it is so much more controllable than a gun designed to take paint off a wall.



It looks like a tool I should own but I can't make myself swallow the $130+ price tag.

Maybe. I was hoping for something with that long skinny snout that would be easier to get it into an engine bay or other position where the wire isn't easy to access.

My Wife has a small one for embossing and arts and crafts. I borrow it pretty regularly for shrink tubing wires. Works great. I think they have them at Walmart, Micheal's etc.

My Harbor Freight heat gun has not disappointed me.

Would a hot air rework station work? This one looks to be self contained and $29. No experience with this one mine has arguably a better heating element but is significantly more expensive and is connected to a separate box so not really practical for under hood of a car.
