Hey all

I would like to see some pics of how others are connecting their pvc conduit runs to their panels. I have a surface mounted subpanel in my finished attached garage and am not sure of the best way to attach conduit runs to it.

I am thinking one of these and a nut on the bottom but am wondering if there is a better/correct way of doing this.

What you illustrate, with a stamped/castellated nut is what is used for the end of the conduit at the panel knockouts. You must run a ground wire when using the PVC conduit.

Depending on what you are doing and if your going to run more wires in the future, make it easier now and run 3/4. 1/2 pvc is a pain to run wires in once you get more than one elbow in it.

Thanks for the reply Mustang, I will keep this in mind.

Consider using EMT in place of the PVC. Leave the PVC for underground work and get yourself a bender and go to town. Although a bit more challenging than PVC, the results are much more gratifying, plus, in my opinion, a better electrical installation for above ground exposed work in a shop/garage setting.

After you get the hang of bending pipe, it becomes one of those fun challenges and you’ll be using it to run outlets everywhere….Lol

C96 I had already purchased all of the pvc conduit and was committed to it.

Here is what I ended up with.

My cheap wire roll holder.

I added the conduit straps after I took this photo.

Looks good, I would say you definitely went a little overboard on the straps but doesn't hurt

Thanks Mustang

ha I had read about how pvc conduit starts to sag after a while. Plus I bought a box of the straps so I had an abundant amount of them.

You say you added straps to the drop to the outlet. I was going to say you needed to add a ******** that section. The size PVC you used is to be supported every 3 feet and fastened within 3 feet of every box or body.
