Air Exchanger Help

My air exchanger stopped working. I'd like to replace the capacitor but I don't know what I need since the specs written on it are all worn off.
The unit is a Venmar AVS Solo 2.0. I asked Venmar what I needed and they said "The capacitor is only available in the motor assembly." Any idea why that would be?

I'll guess that one model might have multiple motor options coming off the factory line, with different matched caps over the years.

If it is a double shaft motor, mounted with the shaft vertically, I will bet lunch money the motor is bad.

Any numbers on motor take a pic of the tag. Looked at venmar site they are very proud of their parts.
Plus the motors are a weak point. They fail often.

Personally I would buy a Greentek and toss the Venmar. Motors are warrantied got 10 years. I worked for a Greentek dealer, never replaced a motor.

Did you diagnose the cap as bad or are you loading up and firing the parts cannon?
Guilty as charged. The motor assembly is $400+ and replacing the capacitor on my air conditioner did the trick so I was just going to try a (relatively cheap) new capacitor and hope to get lucky. I noticed the recall and I just want to make sure I'm replacing it with the right capacitor so I don't increase the odds of something going wrong. How hard would it be to actually diagnose the capacitor?

you need to remove the capacitor and test with a multimeter that has Capacitance Meter feature.
