Air filtration system recommendation needed

Hi, everything in my 50x80 shop always gets covered in dust. I keep my collector cars and race cars in here, and I work on them, including welding and grinding. I try to do the dirty, dusty jobs outside, but I live in Minnesota so it is not always possible. Plus every time I drive in or out, the car drags in dirt and dust from the gravel road. Sweeping the concrete floor raises a lot of dust.

I have a radiant tube heater, so no forced air system exists to add a filer to.

I was thinking of installing one or more of the ceiling hung air filter systems like the Jet AFS1000B at Northern Tool.

I would want something easy to clean and maintain, quiet as possible, effective, and that doesn't break the bank. Do you guys have any suggestions or recommendations? Do these things accomplish enough to even be worthwhile?

You may want to find something with an ECM motor for electrical efficiency.

You may need more than one of these, or find something bigger.

You would want some type of gauge to tell you when the filter is loaded- it will save you money in the long run.

If these units run a proprietary filter, that will add up quick.

The sphere of influence from a centrally located unit may not be so great. Those all in one fan boxes may not have enough fan to connect ductwork to.

You could hang a traditional furnace with an ECM motor, add a nice filter system, some ductwork on the return side to pick up air from different parts of the shop and maybe add A/C and some backup heat in the future.

I have the Jet AFS1000 in 1000 sqft wood working shop to control the dust.
The JET filters are serviceable and reusable so they can last for years with reasonable care.
The JET is in the very center of the shop below the table saw run off bench.
The JET filter almost 20 years old. Done nothing to it other clean the filters and replaced both filters once.

Also have Delta 50-840 dust control ducted to the table saw, planer and jointer.

Big sanding job use a shop vac attached to the orbital sanders, small jobs let the JET clear the air.

It’s been good enough to keep the wife happy and her sewing/craft area in the next room.

The cheap way is to just pick up an old furnace and make a filter box for it. Use 4 21x21x1 filters bought in bulk. Hang it or sit it on the floor and get a cheap thermostat with a programable fan control. Set it to run for so many minutes a few times a day and done. I do a lot of fabrication in my shop, plasma cutting, welding, grinding, saws, mill, lathe with water based coolants, painting tractors. I have a furnace with AC and swap the filters every 6 months. Also have a ride on floor cleaner and my shop stays clean. Man cave area is open to shop and i dust once a year.
