air tool that vibrates for broke tool removal

A long time ago I worked with a guy that had a air tool he used to vibrate broke bolts loose.

any help what this is

looks like a pencil with like a carbide needle on the end of it that vibrates

Like a needle scaler or an engraver? Engraver comes to mind since you said it looked like a pencil with a carbide tip.

^^^^that's interesting. Never saw that before, but some years ago I got a re-man carb from a guy who only built carbs and he would always tap the back of his screwdriver with a light hammer before removing the screw. He said it helped to "break loose" the screw so that he wouldn't strip the head or break the head off the shank.

An air scribe works great on bolts that were broken due to too much pressure on the head of the bolt. If the bolt was bottomed out in the hole or was cross threaded, you will have to get much more violent with it.
