Am I nuts for thinking plastic conduit for everything?

I am going to use plywood or OSB for my interior walls on the garage addition, and the thought of cutting the holes for the outlets and switches make me cringe!
With drywall I can hide a few mistakes but not with this stuff, I could end up with huge home made cover plates to hide that mess. So I am thinking about PVC conduit and leaving everything outside the walls. I figure one light switch and 7 outlets. The outlets may be spread across two circuits, I dont know yet. The ceiling wire will run through the attic space and just come out in a ceiling mounted outlet for the lights to plug into.

Do people do it that way or should I just **** it up and put the wire in the wall?

Put the wiring in the wall. Cutting holes for outlet, switches and lights isn't really all that hard. Trust me... if I can do it, so can you.

Not really the intended usage for PVC conduit,it will sag,discolour and really look like a bubba project.Either put the cable in the walls or use EMT on the surface.

If supported properly PVC conduit shouldn't sag, and it won't rust like EMT will eventually. you can paint it, too, if you'd like. I'd prefer having the wiring in the wall myself but it's really your choice - either way is acceptable.

Future plans here are sheetrock and surface mount with EMT. 1) sheetrock is easy to repair and paint, even if it's a PITA to tape and bed 2) EMT can be changed around, added on, etc very easily. I used OSB in the current shop and no sooner had things up than I was cutting and cussing to do moves/adds/changes.

Either use EMT or wire it inside and cut the boxes. A tape measure is your freind.
