In a few weeks I close on a three car garage (interestingly enough it even has an attached house for the wife and future kid).

I'm a pretty **** rententive guy and this will be my first garage so I have been scouring the Internet looking for ideas to setup my "man cave" to meet my many needs (bicycle wrenching, some car wrenching, storage of the usual garage ****...eventually home brewing and bicycle frame building too). During my quest for information I was routed to this website. Found some great info and decided to sign up.

Looking forward to picking brains and, hopefully, sharing my experiences as the build moves foward.

Welcome to GJ neighbor. I'm up in Lutz with a 3-car and attached house too. There are many cyclists here on the Journal that have found inspiration on their workshop makeover.

Congrats on your new purchase venture!

Thanks! I'll actually be pretty close to you in a few weeks if all goes well between now and closing. This garage/house is up in your neck of the woods.

Welcome up here. I told someone we were moving Up to Lutz. They corrected me and said I was moving Out to Lutz. I don't mind having deer wander through my yard in a residential development.

Are you on the Hillsborough or Pasco side of Lutz? We were originally looking for homes off the west side of Livingston (the area that is probably dead center between the I275 overpass and the county line). That is a beautiful area but we couldn't find any homes in our price range and size requirement that didn't need some serious work. With our first kid on the way in December we were looking for something a bit more move in ready.

I'm in Hillsborough near LLF and Suncoast, west of Dale Mabry. Not in Pasco, but I can see the Pasco line from my back yard. I know the Livingston area and agree its nice.

Congrats on the expanding family. You have your hands full now and even more in December. PM me if you need help moving.

I may call you when I break out my welder for work on my VW Bus. I have an O/A and Mig that I have never used yet.

Hope you don't mind a watercooled VW family moving up in your area. ;)

A friend of mine who is into aircooled dubs lives up in Odessa not far from where we are (off 54 a few miles west of the Suncoast). He welded his own sand rail together a year or so ago.

Thanks again for the warm welcomes.

Bit of an update. The house is officially ours (closed on Friday). Had my newly purchased '89 Jetta towed to the house on Saturday and I must say I got some odd looks from neighbors. Next weekend is the full move and we become official residents of Lutz. I have so much work ahead of me and have no idea where to start. The garage is a friggin mess and will only get worse this weekend with the move. Need to just take a deep breath and take it one project at a time.

That Jetta is yours? Man, we were talking about ya draggin that thing in here... Just kidding :) Welcome to Lutz. Glad it all worked out and the house is yours. Let me know what you need help with to get settled in.

After the big move in and you get her settled in and the nursery done, start the garage with small bites. It is an overwelming task, but you've got many years ahead to get it just right. Start with pencil and paper and create a concept. Start movign things around and then change the concept a few times. It will evolve to what you want.
