Anti-Skid Size Selection

I recently applied EpoxyMaster (10mils DFT) in my garage. Having used their product before in my basement utility room, I didn't care for their aggressive aluminum oxide. For my garage, I used Legacy's soft-skid media (fine size-40 mesh) and mixed it in with the EpoxyMaster product. We liked the feel of that much better and it seemed to do the trick until we realized that it wasn't anti-skid enough for flip flops and bare feet, of which little girls have lots of in the summer .

I was considering whether or not to put a top coat on, so I guess this makes that decision. The question is now what size to use for anti-skid. The top coat is 5-7mils DFT. I wonder if using the same Fine size on a top coat 2/3rds the thickness be enough to make the difference or if I ought to bump up to the Coarse size at 16 mesh.

We have a really nice small particle size non skid called Armorgrip you can add to any topcoat. It's not gritty, disappears in cleats and gives excellent nonskid properties.

Thanks for the reply Scotty. I'm considering bumping up to the coarse grit just to be safe. Is that advisable or do I run the risk of having a floor that is way to bumpy?

Also a question on the application rate. The epoxy was 7.5 gallons for the area I applied and accordingly used 3 oz per gallon. The sealer I am using is about half that, at 3 gallons. Do I keep the same 3oz per gallon and use less in the same space or bump up the rate to use the same ~20oz in the entire space?

Use the same ratio. You can see the grain size pretty good in these pics.
