Anvil Hardy??

I got this at a sale that was void of tools, all junk and nicknacs and it seemed out of place. Was wondering if this is for an anvil. The only markings on it are 2H2.

Yes, it would be fitted into a hardy hole. Either on an anvil, or a benchplate. That one looks like it would be for tinsmithing, or possibly silversmithing. ????

Marty: your old steel magnet you have in your body found another gem. i'll go with Jake's thoughts and if you don't have a real anvil to stick it in they also fit in stands. i was looking for some of the tin knocker stands with bigger hardy's that i thought I had on my laptop and couldn't find any so maybe you will.

i did google looking for a hardy and found the picture of your exact one i think that came off another forum.

keep up the search for those cool old tools Marty.

also you and Jake need to post up a few of your clamps on the new Clamps 101 thread we started.

Thanks Jake and Drives, I was searching and couldn't find one like it. I cant believe you found the exact one, this one weighs 6lbs. It was definitely out of place amongst the pencils and nicknacs that haunts us in our dreams when we think we are going to a great sale and nothing.

Marty: i googled tin knocker hardy to get that picture so if you do you might also find the forum talking about it. those tin knocker hardys also have pretty cool stands. here's a homemade tin knocker anvil i bought last year on an old axle that i thought was pretty cool and i used it as my Avitar for about 6 months.

I believe its a sheet metal working stake. I'll have to dig up some pictures in an old school shop book I have and post.. Pretty common in most school 'general shops'...

Yea, it's a stake, it goes in a stake plate. Hardy tools are traditionally not tapered.
