I'll try to shoot pix of mine so you can compare... I wonder sometimes what it's worth, but then again, I wouldn't sell mine for less than gold. And not even then. Anyone who works on Carters, they are the bees knees awesome possum repair kit!

Nope 49 Buick with a straight 8 was the car in the movie rain man just a joke. Looks pretty sweet man I like the intake set up

I pointed out to my dad the other day that I’d never owned a car with a carburetor (I’m 30) and he stomped off into the corner muttering about being too effing old.

I always thought tuning one carb was enough pita most of the time. Couldnt imagine having having 4 i had to tune for one vehicle. Especially on bikes where they usually have to be pulled to make a tuning adjustment.

Yep. Former Carter guy here. Rebuilt two WCFB's for my '57 Corvette. I didn't have the cool tool kit you have but I saw references for several of the tools in my shop manuals. I used drill bits for gages as I remember and set float height with a vernier caliper. All good though. Dual point distributor w/ centrifugal advance and not a vacuum line on the whole engine. I had a "Strip Kit" with various jets and metering rods but I sold that on Ebay after I sold the car. Now I just do Dellortos for BMW Airheads no Bings though.

but isn't the fun in building a car, making things as hard and overwhelming as you can? and if your going to tune multiple carbs, they might as well be at least 70+yrs old and in poor condition

Looks like stuff which would make it much-easier to work on Carters, then-again, the right tools usually-do.

Did a search for a thread dedicated to Carter carburetor tools, but didn't see one. These tool sets are from the 30'-50's and belonged to my grandfather who owned a tune-up shop back in the day. I believe the box in the top of photo two is a "Junior Technician" set and the box on the right side...

I got this at an auction - paid $15 for it. Is there any place that lists what the application of the tools are? 40 some have Carter part numbers and 3 are Snap On. Just trying to figure out what I have without going to each unique carb manual. Thanks. Dale

Yea I pretty much just searched for the part number and commented on the only one it was mentioned. I wasn't sure if there was a dedicated one for the tools. Maybe I'll post what I got in the for sale forum because ultimately my goal is to get stuff out the door

I put a "brand new rebuilt" WCFB on a 164 CI flat 6, using a "2 into 1" adaptor 4bbl manifold. Drove about a mile before the stuck float dumped gas all over the top side of the engine. The generator, in genning, ignited the fumes, drawing my attention to the problem with a "whump" and visible heat waves off the hood. Insurance company was not amused, made me put stock carbs back on it. (64 Corvair Monza)
