Years and years of older shop guys yelling about back dragging files

Some concrete evidence that back dragging, even at full pressure, doesn't affect a file at all. If anything, it's more efficient.

Seems like more guys would benefit from a file card more than anything.

Turns out all that thread amounted to was a bunch of stupid adult aged children arguing over YouTube philosophies.

Having watched this and used files, it seems coarse ones can go forward and backward easily and effectively. I don't do that with smaller files, but the aggressive cutting ones I do.

I find it's task specific... lots of room, part in the vise, I usually lift. Also If I care about finish, as back dragging can gouge the surface easier with debris.

Filing in a tight spot, like in a blind hole, etc, seems easier/better to drag a bit.

Oh man... watched this a couple of weeks ago... thought about mentioning it after reading the hex wrench torture test but thought better of it. Having said all that.... I found this very interesting BUT I think he would find vastly different results we he to repeat this with the modern cheap *** Nichols files...
