bahco ratchets (dual 80)

why dont we see more talk and recommendations for these ratchets?

where is everyone buying them? are they getting hard to fine?

pros and cons?

Probably because they're only available as one standard model spread across three drive sizes and they have been elusive at times to buy. They have been discussed before though over the last few years. Another issue might be that there are plenty Snap on dual 80 series ratchets available on ebay & other places so why opt for the Spanish made version. I do like the 1/4 & 3/8 models that I have though

yes, they are. I have the 1/2 and 3/8's and never had a problem.

One con is they're only available in 1 style with a comfort grip handle. No different lengths, no different handles etc. Just the 1 style.

Also as someone else said, they can at times very hard to buy and locate. Other times they'll show up on places like Amazon and be extremely cheap (like 30 dollar range).

So if all you want is a Dual 80 to try, yea its not bad. But if you'd like a flex head, or a long handle, or a non comfort grip handle, or bent handle, or anything else then its just easier to do snap on.

I recently got a 1/4" and now have all drive sizes. I like them for clean work otherwise I will be using a hard handle. They took some finding but all were pretty cheap, no way I would pay Snap on prices for a standard dual 80 over here, flex or long possibly. They are cheap enough that if you want to try one then why not get one

I going to say I agree with this statement. I like the idea, but the only one that fit my needs over a snappy was the 1/2 drive. I need a regular old 1/2 inch, and it was a good value. They are pretty stumpy and handle bulky compared to what I like in the 1/4 and 3/8 realm.

Agreed. The grip looks big, ugly and cumbersome in the pictures. In hand, it's a totally different game.

Hmmm, maybe I'll see if I can find a 1/2" drive model. I can sorta justify to myself that I 'need' another standard ratchet in that drive size, and I could never get past the cost of Snap on 1/2" drive rats.

If anyone finds a place that is selling them post it up. I know they make a couple diff ones so make sure it's the dual 80 version.

I own a fair amount of ratchets and the Bahco 1/2' is one of my favorites. Smooth as silk.

Probably because there are Bahco ratchets, and then there are Bahco ratchets!

Some of them are the very shiny, Spanish made, and probably quite decent tools that seem to be on offer in the U.S.

Here in the U.K. I can pick up a Bahco ratchet almost anywhere, and it's the roughest crudest tool I've seen come out of Taiwan in a long time!

So, be careful about what you are buying, especially if you live outside the U.S!

I have the 1/4'' and 3/8'' and use them all the time, they work great and are comfortable to me, the 1/4'' was a lot smaller then I thought it was going to be, but works just fine for me.



I bought mine a little over a year ago on the Bay, they had a lot of them and I think it was like $50 for both, it was money well spent.
