Bakers' rack cabinets

Was tired of the messy look of my old metal shelves, I had 3 of these bakers' racks around and decided to make them into cabinets but didn't want to spend a lot of money, (well I did get carried away a bit on the vinyl!)


View media item 77156Each cabinet required 3 sheets of hardboard

View media item 77163Back, top and sides are covered and held on with plastic wire ties.

View media item 77159Extra hardboard was used on each shelf.
View media item 77157Vinyl graphics was my design and cut by sign shop
View media item 77160Hinge, using the bracket that went on the back of each shelf that prevented things from falling off the back.
View media item 77161Bracket that was cut in half the put in groove cut in board made a sturdy hinge

Those look fantastic! You just gave me an idea for a couple of old switchboard cabinets I have that appear to be about the same size with twin doors. Hope you don’t mind sharing your idea. Good job.

Glad to share, this forum is where I got the idea to cover the work bench with self stick floor tiles.
