ballast

have an electronic ballast that burned out yesterday. New bulbs don't help and the old ones look good still. It is 10 years old. I looked at HD and Lowe's online to buy a replacement but the numbering on theirs throws me. This one is listed for .53 amp for (2) F32T8. The new ones online have other numbers after the F32T8 like U, or V or some other series. Can someone point out a good electronic ballast that would probably be available locally in a box store. I have no clue what the numbering after the T8 on the new ones is telling me and I don't trust the local big box folks to give me the correct answer either.

My Home Depot carries 2 different ones, a residential and a commercial. The residential is better if you have a radio in the area. It wont interfere so much. But, it's only 120V.

If you have 277v, then you'll need the commercial version. It can be any electronic instant start ballast. Be sure it has 2 blue wires and one red wire. Here are some common part numbers.

The letter U that you refer to just mean that it will also run a u-bend lamp.

T8 LEDs sold locally require a ballast. I have plenty of new tubes but the ballast is bad. If I go your way I have to throw away the spare bulbs and still buy a ballast. False economy. When I run out of bulbs I'll move over to LEDs.
