My new house has a 2 car garage with a whopping 2 outlets in it. I want to add a 3 or 4 more, and i want a floodlight installed on the outside of the garage. Assuming I've got the breaker space and i don't mind bare conduit running across my walls, anybody care to give me a rough estimate of what this is going to cost? I'm not trying to be cheap about it. Just want to know about how much I'll need to have ready when I write the check.

Thanks,

Red

The last time I had a quote for adding electrcial outlets to my house (10years ago), it was quoted as $25 per outlet. A total rewire of my old farmhouse came out to $9000...yikes.
Instead of going broke, I enrolled in a residential wiring class for one semester at a CC and then re-wired my entire house myself.

The education was priceless...

It would be next to impossible to get a contractor to show up for less than $150,unless it is just a quick in and out service call.My guess would be anywhere from just under 200 bucks to just under a thousand!

I agree with tfi. I know that at my familys shop we have a hourly rate of 75.50 a hour. The work you want done might take two guys to speed it up and help with fishing the walls. Just my two cents

how far is the CB from the garage? is it going to be easy to get the power?

materials are minimal...$100-150 or so
figure 2 guys 4 hrs minimum...
around here 2 guys and a truck ~$100/hour

just get a couple of quotes...

that post about $9.97 for a book is good advice... i wanted our remodeled cabin wired, called an electrician out and got a price, actually i called 3 electricians... all were extremely high priced, i went to home depot and bought a book, but mine was just about $20 bucks i wired the whole cabin, the whole works, never did much wiring at all before this, but got through the entire job, it was inspected by county inspector, i was up front with him telling him this was a owner job and i would appreciate any tips or help, the inspector was great, helped me alot, with lots of advice, told me things he looked for, i say do your own work, get that book and you will learn alot and save plenty.
