OK I have an 1880's brick farm house with an old fuel oil furnace (yes I know someday she will get replaced) and had a quick question. The basement is unheated and unfinished.
Here is the question; Would it be worth the money to insulate the basement ceiling with fiberglass batts?
I know in new construction they do not insulate the ceiling but in an older house would it be worth it? I have seen crawl spaces insulated before but not basements, Why?
I did blow 20+ inches of cellulose into the attics this fall, and all walls are insulated to their max with either fiberglass or cellulose. Windows are new replacements of good quality. I'm trying to make this old house as effiecient as possible with the fuel bills what they are.
