I'm wanting to paint the basement of a house with an epoxy paint. I was originally going to use one of the Rustoleum Professional Coating kits, but then found out that wasn't going to cover the whole room. So now we are going to have to use 2 kits and paint part of the main room at one time, then paint the rest of the main room and some bathrooms and hallways at a different time.
Right now the floor has some old latex or oil paint on it. I was going to etch the concrete then put the paint down. Will this work? Also, do we really need to do two coats with this stuff? If we do have to do 2 coats then we are going to have to obviously purchase twice as many kits and the cost is going to double.
We were planning on doing this during the summer, but unfortunately the house is in Lawrence, KS while I'll be in Kansas City this summer. I'll have other people to help me, but I'd like to be there for as much of the work as possible and I'll probably only be able to drive up on the weekends. Do you think I'd be able to get it done in 2-3 weekends?
