So I've been a lurker on the GJ since 2007, but have never posted. But now with a new house & garage underway, I've been spending a lot more time here. The building site for the house doesn't have a lot of flat space, so I was only able to eek out about a 35'-10 1/2"W x 29'-4" deep space. I would love more square footage, but at least I will have very high ceilings (12ft walls with cathedral ceilings) - The plan is to add one (or more) 4-post lifts.
FWIW I do very little mechanical work on my cars nowadays - mostly just tinkering and detailing. And to that end I have floor drains and hot/cold water in the garage for car washing duties. Also, I shouldn't need to have any lawn equipment, etc. in the garage.
Lighting will be by highbay LEDs, which should give me reasonable good lighting. Flooring will be Swisstrax which I will be moving from my current garage.
What I could really use help with is lift placement, etc. - from those who have experience. Since this car also houses three daily drivers, I need to consider access/convenience for those.
Oh, and two of the daily drivers are pretty compact - a 2dr Jeep Wrangler at about 167" long and a MK7.5 Golf GTI at about 168" long. And one of the hobby cars is a VW Cabrio at about 161" long, so in theory one of the dailies and the Cabrio could go nose to nose in one bay. The other hobby car is a V8 S10 that is about 179" long.
I'll attach some photos for give you an idea of what I am working with.
Anyhow, enough with rambling...
