Bench grinder Wheel Flange

Just curious if there should be a washer on the spindle b4 the flange and one on the outside. This is how it was when i bought it. Is this how it normally is? I bought this and it has 3/4" wide wheels. If I didnt use the washers a 1" wheel looks like it would work. ?? Thanks for any advice.

Well you certainly don't have to use a washer if you don't want to.
Not sure if they came on new ones or not... maybe check the manual?

I have found the right side sometimes rubs without a washer so you might check that first.

IIRC - I downloaded the complete owners manual from Vintage Machinery website.

I certainly can't see the point in adding a washer with such a sloppy ID against the shoulder on the shaft. The standard flanges are already a much better fit.
