I am in the process of wiring the garage. The HD9-XW is going to be here on November 3-4. My question is do i need to run 10-2 or 10-3? I don't know if it requires a neutral or not. I would like to go ahead and get the wiring done before the lift arrives.

I'd run a neutral regardless. That lets you use the same feed for some utility outlets too...
