I have a dozen small parts boxes / bin holders and so far they all ****. Stanley, Hazard Fraught, Amazon chinesium, everything *****.
The best system I have found is those plastic bins that fit in an ammo can. They **** too, but using a regular ammo can its at least durable when I knock it out of the back of the truck on accident.
I want a system that has different size bins in the same case.
It shouldnt let parts migrate between bins.
The bins need to be REMOVABLE.
I don't need the capability to cobble everything onto a cart, I just need the small part storage.
And most importantly it needs to be DURABLE.
So, I think I am talking myself into the Milwaukee/Dewalt/Flex/etc. high dollar cases, and I am already invested in Dewalt tools, but they seem to have 2-3 different systems that arent compatible with each other.

Before I blindly invest in new cases, especially for the varieties I can't see in person. I figured I would ask here if y'all had any strong opinions or insights...

I do not know your needs, you do not mention lids/covers upon removing, however I purchased these and made subdividers with the 3d printer, posted here-boxes available at menards and others.

I like the Raaco ones, but can't justify the expense of using them for everything personally. They have a couple of ranges for different durabilities, and many box sizes and bin sizes.

You can find them with a coupon or someplace other than here for a fair amount cheaper, but I have a couple of these and I am thrilled with them.Screenshot_20251025_101831_Chrome.jpg

It doesn't get more customizable then a 3d printer. For custom size organizer bins you can do them now with 0 CAD work thru different online sites/apps that can generate the bins for you so you just download and print. For indoor use PLA material is fine....if going into a vehicle I would recommend PETG at a minimum for higher temp resistance

I have the dewalt with the small bins mentioned here but seldom see that model in the store aside from the Christmas sales where they bring in displays.

I have several others from dewalt and from Durham Manufacturing but they don’t have the removable bins you requested. The Durham stuff is made in the USA and they have drawer style cabinets to store the bins.

I have this one Klein Modbox and it’s by far the toughest one of all but is also expensive compared to the others. I carry hardware working as the electrician and the case probably weighs about 30#. I think they are on sale right now at Lowe’s.

Just curious, what is your issue with the HF storage cases? I haven't had any problems with mine, and I load some of them pretty heavy...

I have about 20 of them, both the shallow and deep. I like them pretty well, definitely well enough to keep using them. I do have some issues with some of them twisting and not wanting to latch right when carry them to a projects, etc. They seem to "fix" themselves after a couple days back in the racks.

I probably wouldn't use them for actual nuts and bolts hardware, but they work great for miscellaneous lighter stuff like electrical terminals, tape, etc. I have a PILE of Durham metal drawers for heavier items.

I use Craftsman versastack for bigger "small parts" like most of my 1/, 5/16, and 3/8 hardware. I use divided boxes from Cabela's for smaller stuff like electrical terminals.

Snap On actually rebadges that.
I have a lot of Flambeau cases. Also probably a 5 foot stack of rifle cases with their anti rust plates.

The Snap-on ones are slightly different in how the trays work, but you can tell they're just changed a little bit for the rebadging. I have both and am very happy with them. I got a great deal on a used like new one branded as Snap-on and couldn't find another one but I found the Flambeau one on Zoro and with a 20% off coupon it was pretty much half price as the Snap-on One retail.

Couple of thoughts…

Tekton has some great organization options.

Also, I bought a somewhat pricey Pelican Vault case to carry parts around for some audio systems. Great quality and super durable.

I've looked at the Durham drawers online in the past. If memory serves, they make empty steel drawers that accept their plastic divider inserts, which can be purchased separately. I couldn't quite tell from the pictures, but do the drawers sold with compartments have a removable plastic tray? I'm assuming so.

I've also noticed a red variant of the drawers with Grainger's logo. Probably not a revelation as I've seen it linked in this forum.
