In the early 70s, I worked my way through college, usually with 2 or 3 simultaneous part time jobs. I thought I was going to make a lot of $$$ doing mobile oil changes and tune ups. Nope, but I got good at changing plugs and points and setting timing and dwell. I have distributor wrenches right next to my drum brake tools !

Yes, they are in great shape. I bought each with my own hard earn money and they all have been stored in their original cardboard box with styrofoam inner liner. No one had to tell ME about taking care of my tools !! ;)

They do look brand new! Funny how some things survive and others do not. I bought these red handles when I was in HS, circa 1983, and the Sears tune up stuff around 1984. Still going strong!

I have all that stuff too. They are now in my storage tool cabinet with all the other tools I haven't used in years. Mine are not as in nice condition as yours are.

I have the Penske dwell/tach. The battery was a tough part to find once it crapped out. Think my still works...????

Yup, I have the same Penske tach/dwell along with a Milton timing light, Craftsman plug gap gage, a set of ignition wrenches, and 13/16 spark plug socket with foam insert all from the early '70's.

I just opened mine. The battery was shot (actually made up of 3 small cells). The original was a Mallory T133. Google "T133 Battery" or "Neda 1304".

During my recent cleanup I found a lot of my old school tools. 3 timing lights, dwell/tach, vacuum gauges, distributor wrenches...even found a GM dwell setting tool still on the package!

I started using them on some recent projects with great satisfaction.

Got to use my tuning skills on Holley carbs sizing jets and adjusting acceleration pump settings. Got to teach a youngling how to tune his 6 cylinder Mustang and it was great to see his face after his first test run.
