Hi, I have a 2001 chev suburban. I have no "check engine" codes, but the ABS and Brake lights are on (but not all the time and not always together). What do I need to check Non-OBDII codes? I think this is a transmission issue. It sometimes shifts late and locks-up hard. Where is the transmission controller anyway? Is there a seperate trans computer? I have the 6 liter with the 4l80e trans. Any ideas? All this eletronics are frustrating...

Thanks Randy

The ABS controller is seperate.

The PCM controls the engine and trans.

They share sensor information over the network. Is the "check engine" light on?

There are plenty of OBDII transmission codes.

My guess thou, is you have a speed sensor issue. I seem to remember there are service bulletins regarding this issue on the front sensors. It doesn't mean you don't have an output speed sensor going bad in the trans.

There is also a software update to deal with a specific issue that turns both the abs and brake warning lights on at the same time. There are several possible issues such as the wheel speed sensors being dirty/bad and possibly a software update. The dealer should do the update at no charge but the way they act anymore who can tell.
