Boiler tuning and "co2 meter"

I've been tuning my own boiler for 30 yrs, and seem to be doing OK. A few times I've had a boiler guy come out to check with his "co2 meter" (my name), and tweak the settings a tad. I'll be helping my son w/ his new boiler now, and am wondering if I should just get a "tuning meter/tuning kit" and be right about it. My problem is, I have no idea what, exactly these guys measure, and what the numbers/readings should be. Is that info available w/out going to Boilerman U? Am I trying to make things too simple? Advice? Thanks. j

Answered. I am getting a smoke kit, a pressure differential gauge (for draft), and a fuel line pressure gauge. That is all my boilerman said I need.
