Been doing some general contracting / renovation work and realized my old Craftsman 16 oz claw wasn't cutting it, LOL. Went to Lowes looking for Estwing and was surprised to find they didn't carry any. Picked up a 20 oz steel Vaughan framing hammer with straight claw and serrated face. Seems pretty nice. Made in USA. Then went to Home Depot and found the Estwings. Pick up a 24 oz steel framing hammer with slightly curved claw and serrated face. It also has what looks like a shark fin for straightening 2x lumber. Also picked up a 22 oz. steel hammer with smooth face and more of a traditional curved claw. Looking forward to trying them out :)

Didn't have anything bigger than a 28 with a hickory handle or I would have, LOL. might have to order one of those 32s...

That sharktooth estwing comes in handy for joisting.
My go-to "all-purpose" is a 23oz vaughan framer. Perfect balance.

Id take the 25oz Estwing "big blue" over their 32oz any day. The longer length compensates for the heavier weight and is a little more comfortable to swing.

Funny thing but this past week I went to the Ceasar creek flea market and it was dead (everyone was at the race track in Kentucky); anyhow I found a very nice man selling Estwing hammers and I bought a nice old stock one for $12.00 dollars. Wow when I learned the price of a new one I just about died on the spot!; and I thought I was paying too much for it.

If I was still swinging a hammer all day I would go for a Stiletto Titanium Hatchet handle, my son has one and it is by far the hardest hitting hammer I have ever used and the light weight allows you to swing it all day and still have the control to take on the small nails.
