Brass ****** - DiElectric Break

Just removed this off a hot water tank - almost 8 years - April 2015.

Brass ******, off the hot outlet side. The crud is about 1/4" thick and more of less 85% of the ID....
What is the GJ consensus. Stock Galvanized PEX lined ******* are the preferred material ?
Wasn't expecting to see this on brass. I thought it was superior to the stock galv. nips.

The plumbup is all ridged. *I'm aware most of the ss, cu, poly/ss braid have a dielectric break on those connectors as well)

The ****** itself is fine. However the brass likely caused the tank arround it to corrode at a faster rate. Most of that build up is probably your tank.

Either that or your water is just really nasty with a lot of swdiment.

Water source is clean.

I threw a shark bite to 3/4 hose to stock pex/galvanized ******* on it while I decide what is the better method on connection

Before I do the final plumb up, just deciding which is the better plumb up

- previous way of brass ****** to copper ridged
- leave stock ****** on and just do a copper flex on it

I actually would have presume brass was the way to go but after seeing this one, no so sure.

Dissimilar metals can cause their own problems. Best to keep everything close to each other on the nobility scale.

Maybe time for a change on how these things are installed and installed of rigid tie in, just CU flex hose on it.
Flex looks so DIY'ish but in a brief look at these things, looks like there is some sort of di-electric sleeve in these things
