How does a project like this "find you"? With an aircooled 911, AND another car with a similar (deferred by various PO) maintenance schedule, you are gonna be busy. More pictures please

Alright, wow, it's been almost a year exactly since I updated this thread. Not too much as changed really, I wound up hanging some monster speakers in the garage, will update photos in a bit.
Right now though, I'm thinking about winter. Last year I used some propane tanks for a BBQ grill and one of those thread on heater things. It worked okay, I honestly don't need to get the detached shop all that warm, 50 degrees is fine.
This year though, I'd like to install a furnace. My neighbor has an old motorhome furnace setup for propane, and the basement of my house is finished so it would be a complete ***** to run a gas line out the garage.
I'm thinking about doing two 100lb propane tanks with a valve, use one until it doesn't work, flip the valve, refill the other, etc.
Here's the thing... I know literally nothing about this stuff. I wanted to put a wood stove in, but it turns out insurance companies freak out if you have a wood stove in a garage that can contain vehicles that run on gasoline. Seems dumb, but okay.
So then the thought is... do you put the propane inside (ugh, takes up more space) or outside (cold!). I could whip up a lean to on the back of the garage and box them in with some pink foam, but they'll still be cold as balls. Then I was thinking about a heated blanked wrapped around them... idk. lots of ideas.
If anyone has any links w basic furnace info, hit me up. Going to go back to google.

you shouldn't have any problem storing propane outside. very common

Your house has NG and you're messing around with propane?
You don't need to tap into your NG line in the basement - anywhere after the incoming meter will work. Just tee off and head towards the garage on the outside, bury it if you want.
Otherwise, I'd be poking holes in the drywall in the basement. It's a "buy once, cry once" deal...no way would I be worrying about when to refill the propane tank.
