Thanks for the tips! We used Liquid Nails wood glue all over the place and used 2" finish nails with the nail gun. :) It's definitely strong enough to support me (and I weigh 225lbs)

Made some more progress this weekend! I bought an air compressor and nailer which made the task a lot easier.

Almost completed - I just need to get doors of some sort. I'm thinking I want to do sliding panels instead of swing out doors or else it'd be hard to open the cabinets when the cars are in the garage. Have to do some looking around at Home Depot / Lowes this weekend to see what I can come up with. I'm also planning on painting everything to give it a more finished look. We'll see what time allows. :)

Giving credit where credit is due, I was telling my wife and my dad that I wanted to get rid of the rolling Craftsman cart. My wife came up with the idea to build the next wooden cabinet large enough to fit the cart in it and I thought "Sure why not." I'm glad I went this route so now when I'm working on the car I can still pull the cart out and use it.

Hard to tell but in the middle under the window is my air compressor also nicely stored and two steel nut & bolt organizers that I got for free from a friend.

nice work, I have never been a wood worker myself but after some small projects that worked well I am seriously thinking about building my own kitchen cabinets. Not yet but down the road, need to build up the wood working tool set first and get to know them. I love the idea of saving the money, getting exactly what I want and the satisfaction of having done them myself.
Gotta love that air nailer right? Bought a good one this summer to do the trim work in the house and I can't imagine not having one now.

Well, birch is cheaper than Oak here at Lowes, so you can look around and get whatever works best for your budget. The crappy cabinets I posted as an example were $200 each and I guarantee they wouldn't last. I actually bought them originally and they disintegrated while I was attempting to stand them up after assembly.

Estates by RSI available at Lowes

I installed some this weekend and Built a subframe to get them off the floor(used 2x8 on edge). Cleated them to the wall and they seem ok for now. At least it will start with organization.
