BUTYL Tape Shelf Life

Doing some drawer cleanup....whats the shelf life of 3M Butyl Tape....I used it a few years back to wrap some cabling I ran that is not terminated -yet- and wanted to seal the ends. Just tested this in removing it from my cold garage....Cut about 8 inches off and did a test wrap. While not as pliable (maybe temp related), seems to stick fine. A quick google suggest 5 years from Date of Manuf.

I've got butyl tape from many years ago that still seems to perform... it lasts almost forever once applied so I don't see it breaking down much with time. as long as it's clean & tacky .

Some people take leftover pieces and store them in a glass jar. They seem to last forever !

Probably too late for that I suppose....been just sitting in the small parts drawer.....keep that in mind on the next new one. Added a chamber vac (food stuff) to my kitchen -garage- awhile back and that thing has been awesome as far as sealing stuff
