buying snap-on roller cab need help

As the title says im going to look at a snap on bottom roller this weekend to buy . Its in ruff shape but he is only asking 100 for it its from the 70s but other than that dont know much about it. I will post the link to the cl add I was hoping someone could tell me if its worth 100 and maybe what its model number is. Also this is going to be my main and only tool box so is there anything you guys would recomend replacing on it while I restore it.

Unless you like to collect vintage toolboxes, don't buy it.

What is your budget? There are many other options that won't require restoration or have friction slides.

As long as it is functional and not falling apart, without seeing it, yes it should be worth $100. That said depending on actual size and condition, it may very well not be worth much then that. Damn I'm a slow typer.

Ok this link should work sorry about that , i do like old boxes, honestly i love old everything and my budet for the box is around 100 i dont have a lot of money right now but i need a box bad, i have been living out of my father in laws while my tools collect dust. if i dont get this what would recomend?

I think I would pass and find a nice used craftsman box or something else. How much to do you have to spend restoring it ?

I know its rusty, the guy said its all surfacw rut but we will see he has had it for 20 years sitting around . If it is just surface rust i know i can make it look really nice again. And im only 21 dont have a ton of tools i can get the top box at some point when i need more space . Do yo think i can get It for 80

There are no nice craftsman around here i saw one i love but it was 300 and i cant afford that

I think this is like buying an old car, better off spending a little more, cheaper in the long run. A friction slide cabinet of this vintage in nice shape probably won't cost a lot more. Realize in this era, plenty of good boxes, even if they don't say"Snap On". Me, I'd keep looking.

man I'll sell you my stainless steel glide in my basement for 700. you'll have more then that invested here. I saw that box, she's rough. to paint it red again, you'll have a lot invested with slides, paint, time, casters.

Looks like a mid to late 80's KRA380. I wouldn't touch it for more than $40-50 and that is IF I really wanted a project. It is going to require quite a bit of time to fix up. The one drawer looks like it has an issue. No badge. Don't get me wrong I like the old boxes, but they aren't rare that you need to settle for a big project.

It's more storage than alot of other 26" boxes. Standard 7 drawer setup, good amount of storage for the floor space. :dunno:

Keep looking. If you don't need it portable a filing cabinet or few will definitely fit into your budget.

Im thinking about just cleanng it up and getting it working good as time gose on we will see, i do have one qetion i do nees this cart to roll around got a 4 stall garage and stuff in different parts of it, will newer stay wheels fit right on? Can ballbearing sides be fitted to it?

Realistically, by the time you get this cleaned up you will have way more money into a box that won't be nearly as good as some of the low end Asian imports. Go through your **** and sell something you no longer use for $50 and go to HF and buy a service cart for $170.

Don't buy it just because it says Snap On on it.

For a hundred bucks to someone with a limited income it's worth driving to see it provided it's not a three hour tour. If... the drawers slide in and out and the casters roll it may suit your needs. If you see that there's issues negotiate it down to 50.

Ok well i founs this as well today a matco cart for 50 bucks has folding lid and two draws what so you guys think

Save another 50 bucks and get a HF 5 drawer.

Ball bearing slides and holds a nice amount of tools. Enough tools to do anything you could want to do on a vehicle.

I will say go look at it. If the drawers all work, even the one that looks a bit jacked and it is solid, ie no busted spot welds, Try to haggle it down. Those are good boxes. See it in person, if it is too far gone, let it go.

I would get the HF 4 drawer cart for $99 before that matco cart. Unless you just have to have something from a truck brand.

If you're just trying to get out as cheap as possible then either of the two you're looking at on craigslist will do fine. It would be pointless to put the time and money into "restoring" them, from a worth standpoint anyway. The experience factor would be good, but you'll never get out of them what you put in; if that is on the table.

Im leaning toward the matco cart it looking in way better condition the the snap on i feel i could clean the matco cart up and be happy with it

$50 for a clapped out Asian import cart! Dude, you need to quit worrying about the name and put some more time and money into something nicer. That thing is a ************* when it's in new condition.
