I have used this HF angle grinder for the past four years and I am still on the original motor brushes (and it came with a spare set)!! I bought it on sale for $16.99 back in '06 and used it extensively in restoring my 65 Dodge...I've run it for hours on end and I have not been kind to it and it has worked perfectly. I can't imagine they're all as good as the one I got (because a lot of HF stuff can be a little iffy), but I've been very impressed with how well it's held up. The price is pretty much unbelieveable compared to what you'd pay for a quality grinder from Milwaukee or DeWalt or something.

I've been using their $10 blue angle grinders for years. I bought five of them so I'd have a spare when one breaks and I can keep more than one wheel mounted. So far I have only broken one, and that's because I dropped it while it was running. I've certainly got a lot more than $10 worth of use out of them.

My Dad bought one of those and it lasted about 45 mins before it was so hot that it was burning my hands through my welding gloves :shocking: Shut it down to cool off and it seized up.

Was a waste of $20 that's for sure.

Most things from HF either work or they don't. Quality control is obviously lacking. That said, they are really nice about returns, even if you don't have a receipt, and many/most of their stuff comes with a 90 day or 1 year warranty. I have to say their warranty service when I brought in a broken air compressor was outstanding.

I say their tools are generally worth a try. All you have to lose is the trip to the store. If it doesn't work or breaks, take it back. If it does work, then hell, you got a good deal!

I've got a good Makita grinder and a cheap HF grinder, and I beat the hell out of that cheap one and i've had it for 5 years after my dad gave it to me. I think he had it for at least 4 or 5....
