well with my time off [ first time off in years at ], guess i haven't been keeping up in the litter dept. for my cat curious george [ cg ]...........seems he took a liking to the concrete in the basement .........been reading up on cat urine on concrete and lots of different theories............so of course i come her for guidance from those that have experience in this..........conflicting advice on the net but i did pick up some nature's miracle stain and odor remover..........one thing seems to be universal, don't add h2o to cat pee............and as for the anti cat rhetoric, save it........this was a pet i gave my stepdaughter and hadn't seen for 8 years and he came back into my life because the ex wasn't responsible enough to change the id chip contact info and either take him in or have him put down............i chose him to share our life and i owe him as i chose unwisely family wise and don't believe he should have to pay.......besides he always did like me best

Try cleaning the concrete with TSP. bleach is an other alternative.

try the nature's miracle, put on copious amounts and let it dry. Cat urine is tough. I have a lot of experience.

I've renovated enough houses that had cat piss damage, I agree with the comments about the natures miracle or baking soda, even the TSP is good thinking. I would NOT use bleach, your looking to get rid of the smell, the bleach just kills germs and **** not remove the smell. Once you scrub the daylights out of the concrete affected by the cat piss, take a oil based KILZ and seal the offending areas. Kilz is widely used in restoration contacting covering smoke damaged materials, the schlack and oil base essentially seals the odor. Kilz can also be used on pretty much any other porous surfaces like subfloors to seal in animal piss and other odors.

What you need is an ENZYMATIC cleaner, no other chemical will get rid of it. I did some research when trying to sell our house with cat piss smell and stains. I used something called "Kids and Pets Cleaner" available at the big orange box. It's cheap, comes in a big yellow bottle, and works, get multiple bottles and use them all. In fact, I need more of that stuff for the kids puke.

Ditto on this...Do NOT add bleach to cat urine, especially if it is fresh and wet.
Bleach and amonia=mustard gas!

I've used baking soda initially, and then wet to the pet store where they have multiple products for this. A cleaner, a deodorizer, a spray so they won't pee there again, you name it.

Cat pee = high acid.
Fix = high basic (Borax, Arm and Hammer, etc)
Only enough water to make a thick paste so it stays in place.

When I was a kid & moved to MI for my dads job.....

House he and mom bought had a room the previous owner used as a kennel

Dad I remember spread coffee grounds all over the concrete floors & just kept scooping it up & then put more out......

Room turned out to be his office...... never smelled
